Description

Prepare To Lead: Coaching and Motivating

One of the most essential resources in any organization is the motivation and drive of the people who work there. Great leaders are emotionally intelligent and self-regulating, and they deliberately help their team members develop those skills as well.

In this session, we will unpack how great leaders do this. By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Identify and explain the impact of unregulated emotional responses

  • Work through a process to choose a clearer thought (based on the work of Byron Katie)

  • Tailor a coaching session to support a coachee develop clearer thoughts

In this session with Megan Webster, we will discuss the goals, structure and essence of a set of coaching strategies designed to help us better regulate our stressful thoughts. Through modeling, videos, case studies, small-group discussions and role-playing, we will explore and try out these practices. This session is a non-required but useful complement to the Coaching for Fulfillment Workshop offered on September 16.

Instructor: Megan Webster, B.A.H., B.Ed, M.A., and Ph.D, is an executive coach, teacher educator, and professional development (PD) consultant. In partnership with scholars at Vanderbilt University and the University of Washington, Megan supported two major urban school districts in the U.S. who aimed to radically improve instruction in their districts. Megan brings great energy, humour, passion and rigor to the work before her; participants leave sessions with her empowered and ready for action.
